Leader in the milling sector, the Société Nouvelle des Moulins du Maghreb (SNMM) will celebrate its centenary this year. The company has undergone a very significant evolution during this century. Created on 08 January 1918 and owned by the Alj family since 1969, the SNMM is the first industrial mill in Africa. The company’s mission was to supply the Northern Zone of the Kingdom, reputed to be the most densely populated in the kingdom. “Based in the Rue de la Garonne, located in the middle of the proletarian district of Derb El Kabir in Casablanca, the SNMM premises are a privileged witness to Casablanca’s urban planning boom,” notes the top management. From its creation, the company has been an immediate success. “In 1927, the Société des Moulins du Maghreb launched its fetish brand Cheval, a symbol of loyalty and nobility,” recalls Chakib Alj, CEO of SNMM, adding that this date also marks the official creation of the Moulins du Maghreb. But in 1969, the company was to experience a turning point in its existence. The Alj family took over and renamed it “Société Nouvelle des Moulins du Maghreb”. A century later, the result is truly breathtaking. “The SNMM is positioned among the most important flour mills on a continental scale,” says Chakib Alj with pride. A sense of duty accomplished that augurs well for the company, which continues to grow and is recording a good momentum in its business. Today, SNMM has a production capacity of 6,500 quintals per day divided among its three units. Good prospects The group has a production site with a crushing capacity of 1,500 quintals per day of soft wheat, intended solely for the manufacture of baking flour and created in 1981. There is also another unit with a crushing capacity of 3 000 quintals per day of common wheat, and also an automated plant with a crushing capacity of 2 000 quintals per day of common wheat. It should be stressed that Société Nouvelle des Moulins du Maghreb is constantly increasing its investments year after year to support its ambitions both on the national market and on the markets in sub-Saharan Africa. “We cover the entire national territory, with a delivery capacity in all regions of the country. SNMM also has its own fleet of trucks. This subsidiary of Cap Holding owes its success and longevity to its quality policy, which has been distinguished on many occasions,” the top management adds. It should be noted that the company has been successively awarded ISO 9001 version 2000, ISO 9001 version 2008 & FSSC 22 000 and recently ISO 9001 version 2015 certification, in addition to approval from the Office National de Sécurité Sanitaire des Produits Alimentaires (ONSSA). The SNMM also invests heavily in R&D to guarantee the quality of its products and meet customer requirements for innovation in order to consolidate its market position. “Equipped with a laboratory equipped according to the most advanced international standards in terms of control and measurement, the NPSMM pays close attention to the conformity and stability of all its products. All these assets have earned it the trust of its many reference customers, including Mondelēz Maroc, Maroc Buns Industrie, Sawamag (Endomi), etc. “The top management emphasizes.
